The unveiling of the new Valencia CF kits is always one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the season, and fans were able to see the 2020/21 shirts for the first time on Wednesday.
PUMA’s Club Partnership Coordinator, José Ibáñez de Lara, spoke to VCF Media Radio about the three new designs revealed for the upcoming campaign.
“The brand always tries to get really involved with each team with whom we have a sponsorship agreement. We try to include some iconic representative of the city in our designs; an emblematic building or a very local concept. We have been able to do that with our three shirts,” he explained.
“We worked on making the kits the best quality possible in terms of sporting performance for the players, and on making the design to the fans’ liking,” he said, before commenting on the home kit’s unique details.
“It’s a very clean, classic kit, predominantly white with a few black details. There is a very subtle print on the front, inspired by the Lonja de la Seda silk exchange. We are also bringing back the black socks,” added Ibáñez.
“The away kit is a vibrant orange, in complete contrast with the more neutral home kit. It has navy blue details on the neck and the shoulders.”
“The third kit is the one that I like the most. It’s the one that we can work with the most, with more possibilities for the colour. It has a spectacular finish, and if you look at the shirt it’s like looking at a painting by Joaquín Sorolla. People will talk about it because it’s the most different and the most original.”
Puma have also worked on technical details for this year’s kits, as Ibáñez explains.
“It’s PUMA technology that improves humidity levels and creates the perfect body temperature whilst the shirt is in use. The shirts from the ‘Pro’ range, used by players and also available to buy, have some laser-cut holes in the chest to improve sweat management, and the away shirt has this on the back as well.”
“PUMA sell these kits in all of our stores worldwide, as well as online from any country. They are available in any part of the planet.”
